With the Monday opening of Slice Works, 700 East Colfax Ave., partners Lou Scileppi, Vinnie Scileppi , and Mike Scileppi have the Upper Colfax urban model cued up and ready to go.

Slice Works restaurant and bar is a cool composite of smart design work and solid Italian restaurant experience. Here’s the concept:

Design: edgy urban feel, trendy, open air feel, with the ability to open both first and second floor windows. The whole restaurant is like an in-door patio.

Cuisine: With several traditional Italian restaurants already under their belts, the Scileppis will offer a full menu of Italian cuisine. Their pizzas and stuffed breads are a highlight, offered by the slice or by the pie. Ranging from New York to Sicilian style. Their unique offering: the Grandma style pizza, thicker and softer than New York crust, with the melted cheese under the sauce.

Cost affordable: Slices range between $2 and $4. Entrees between $9 and $14.

Full Bar: While the downstairs reflects a more traditional seating, the 2nd floor is the place to be before or after a concert. Open seating, a full range of wines by the glass, hand-crafted beers, and liquor. right across from the Fillmore. Slice Works’ location is prime, perched with airy windows overlooking the action on Colfax.

Hours: 10:30 am to 11:00 pm, seven days.
